On Thursday, June 10th, we honored the first six Comsewogue High School students to earn the New York State Seal of Biliteracy. Students who successfully completed all necessary requirements to earn the Seal are:

  • Dorielis Fernandez Coronado

  • Victoria Johanson

  • Anthony Lin

  • Ana McMahon

  • Emily Nunez

  • Mark O’Connell

The New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages, in addition to English.  The intent of the NYSSB is to encourage the study of languages; identify high school graduates with language and biliteracy skills for employers; provide universities with additional information about applicants seeking admission; prepare students with twenty-first century skills; recognize the value of foreign and native language instruction in schools; and affirm the value of diversity in a multilingual society.

Awards and official NYS Seals of Biliteracy were presented to students by Mr. Cassagne, Seal of Biliteracy coordinator; Ms. Rosa Antelo, Seal of Biliteracy advisor; as well as Dr. Polychronakos and Mr. Mosca.

Congratulations to all students on this amazing achievement. Your hard work paid off, and Comsewogue High School is proud to remember you as our inaugural Seal of Biliteracy class.
