In an inspiring effort to ignite a passion for language learning at a young age, the Italian Honor Society at Comsewogue High School in the Comsewogue School District has been leading engaging, interactive lessons at the District’s four elementary schools.

“The goal is to spark curiosity and excitement about language learning long before students reach middle school,” said Comsewogue High School Principal Michael Mosca. “By giving them a positive, hands-on experience now, we hope to inspire them to pursue language studies in the future.”

Under the guidance of Italian Honor Society advisor Matt Drucker, students use games, songs and hands-on activities to make language learning come alive and create a memorable and motivating experience for the young learners. Each visit is carefully designed to introduce elementary school students to the excitement of studying a new language.

This outreach initiative not only benefits the elementary students, but also provides valuable teaching and leadership experience for the high school members of the Italian Honor Society. The program reinforces the value of community, mentorship and the lifelong benefits of multilingualism.
