In a heartfelt act of service and compassion, students from Comsewogue High School in the Comsewogue School District recently volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Queens by preparing and serving meals for families in need.

As part of the organization’s “Brunch from the Heart” and “Meal from the Heart” programs, the students dedicated their morning to cook and serve an array of comforting dishes, including eggs, pancakes, sausages, quiche, wraps, salads, and desserts.

The volunteer initiative was part of Joe’s Day of Service, a district-wide tradition that honors the legacy of beloved former Superintendent Dr. Joe Rella. Known for his unwavering commitment to compassion, philanthropy, and community support, Dr. Rella's spirit lives on through the actions of Comsewogue students and staff, who annually dedicate themselves to service projects that make a real impact.

"A lot of Comsewogue love was brought to the house that love built," said Comsewogue High School Principal Dr. Michael Mosca. “We’re so proud of our students for demonstrating the values Dr. Rella championed, including compassion, generosity, and mutual support, through their meaningful contributions to families going through difficult times.”

The Ronald McDonald House, which provides a home-away-from-home for families of children undergoing medical treatment, was filled with the warmth and kindness that defines the Comsewogue community.
