America's 250th Birthday

Happy 4th of July! This year marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  The technical term for this event is the semi-quincentennial anniversary.  There are 56 signatures on the Declaration of Independence, including one from Long Island (Brookhaven) – William Floyd.  
Attached to this post please find the Long Island 250th Passbook which highlights various sites – landmarks, museums and other historical sites that tell the story of our nation’s fight for independence and Long Island’s role in it. Suffolk County has developed a dedicated website to celebrate this historical event.
